Catching on with Radio - YES!
Monday, September 10, 2007
Before I talk about anything else I have to start with saying THANK YOU RADIO!! I don't mean to sound cheesy but I can't tell you how happy I am that the radio stations around the country have been so supportive. “Famous In A Small Town” went top 20 and is still going strong. People may not realize how hard that is to do these days, especially when Garth Brooks comes out with a song like "More Than a Memory". It's huge! Thanks to the fans too for calling and requesting it.
Well, I hope you all liked the Cross Country as much as I did. Jack and I both were so excited about how it turned out. It was so much fun. And I think it definitely sparked some interest in us touring together someday… We will see!
Speaking of tours, we are still out with Toby but it's winding down. We have had a great time and I’ve gotten to meet a lot of fans. Though I don't think he is much of a prankster, I am still worried about the last few days. Everyone usually waits till the very end to pull their tricks out. We will be at home in Texas on the last two days so I have a few things up my sleeve.
Since I wrote last I heard the exciting news that I am nominated for a CMA award, but not just any CMA, it’s Female Vocalist of the Year. And on top of that I am in a category with REBA! I am freaking out! Also Martina, Carrie (of course) and one of my favorites, Allison Kraus. This is a really big step in my career because thinking back on all the women that have won this award I can hardly believe I’m even competing. So if any one on the CMA board reads this, thank you, thank you, thank you!
Delilah and all her friends at the Humane Society say thanks again this month for the donations. They are being put to good use. I’ve got exciting news! This is the first time I’ve talked about this publicly so I guess I’m “announcing” it. Mom may kill me but I’m so happy to be doing it I can’t wait. I am holding a benefit on April 20th in Tyler for the Humane Society, It’s my first one and I am inviting some of my really special friends. I don’t have all the details yet but mom is working everything out and will have it on the site soon.
Hopefully next time I write I'll have a big deer to talk about. Bow season starts in early Oct. And believe me I'm counting down. I brought my bow and target out on the road with me and I have been practicing, so wish me luck!
See ya down the road,
ML

By the way, my daughter wanted me to mention that she has a Myspace fan site set up for you. She'd love for you to check it out if you have time.
