Turning 30 - I'm young again!

I don't know if any of you 26-29 year olds experienced what I did during that time in my life. I hadn't accomplished all that I thought I should have and felt like my life was pretty worthless. They tell you in college you have the whole world ahead of you-you can do anything! In college, you have to write down 100 times what you'll be doing in 10 years. And sometimes...life happens and it goes in a different direction than you thought it should. Even though I feel like the Lord has a plan for my life. It's hard not to be jealous of the seemingly exciting life of others! Basically, I'm selfish and self absorbed. How I got to where I am is a long story, but it wasn't where I thought I should be or could be. During downtimes, Miranda's music was so powerful and uplifting. She carries themes of strong women while remaining a true feminine woman. I decided when I turned 30 I was tired of being sad. It wasn't working for me. It wasn't helping - in fact, I think it kept me from living. I really found joy in listening to her songs so I decided at 30 to fulfill a dream I thought I was getting too old for - to play the guitar. Little did I know that learning the guitar would give me the courage to start living again in other areas of my life. The first real song I learned on the guitar was "What About Georgia." There's the line "HEY! Are you the man you thought you’d be by the time that you turned 33?" and I had my Miranda moment - just thought to myself as I learned it, "No, I'm not and I need to do something about it." So, I started thinking differently. I got up from the TV and started living my life. Along this journey, I learned several of her songs and I just felt more empowered as a woman. I decided to start reading again and to read substance books on subjects like theology, history, and politics. I even got a job I really enjoyed. The Lord got me out of the depression, but Miranda's music was a tool I think He used to get me out of the slumps. Her music is exciting - you just want to get up and dance. So, thanks Miranda for creating such powerful down to earth music! I'm about to turn 32 and more joyful than I've ever been. I feel young and like I have a great life ahead of me! I love your music and it still gets me going!Rate this story
