Miranda Lambert just keeps pushing the limits. Along with traditional mandolin and fiddle, producer Frank Liddell (Chris Knight, Lee Ann Womack) has plunked the feisty country singer into an indie-rock locomotive piled willy-nilly with hellbent drums, clanging guitars, swirling strings and some oinky-boinky noises ("Fine Tune") whose origins are hard to pin down.

"Fastest Girl in Town" features a classic, Ramones-style one-note guitar solo. Throughout this largely likable clatter, Lambert projects the image of a gal who's wild at heart ("Look at Miss Ohio"), made some mistakes ("Dear Diamond"), still out for a good time ("Mama's Broken Heart") but has no time for cheaters ("Same Old You" and the pre-album hit single "Baggage Claim").

The cleverly composed opening track, "All Kinds of Kinds," preaches a universal message while switching meters in the bridge; it also features a pinched, nasal rock voice that resurfaces a couple of times, a not particularly welcome departure from Lambert's usually full-throated country punch.
