Miranda headed home to Texas to headline the 5th Annual Cause for the Paws concert benefitting MuttNation Foundation. On Friday, June 22nd, she took the stage at Ford Park in Beaumont, TX, joined by special guests Wade Bowen and the Josh Abbott Band.
MuttNation has raised $236,797 for its cause so far in 2012 from Cause for the Paws and various other donations – including continual fundraising efforts by individual groups of Ran Fans. The Cause for the Paws event raised funds through a combination of ticket sales, a live auction, an eBay auction, raffle tickets, vendors donating their services and private donations.
Sons of Guns donated an AR-15 rifle that brought in the highest live auction bid of $7500. The winner's company, Courville's Catering, out of Beaumont, TX, also donated catering for the night's second largest auction item, a private Wade Bowen performance, which brought in $6250.
The best-selling eBay auction item was a custom-made Miranda Lambert "The House That Built Me" guitar donated by Gawdy Guitars located in Bullard, TX, while an Eli Young Band signed guitar and ticket package brought the most attention to the night's raffle.
Miranda’s love of animals led to the formation of MuttNation. The foundation has successfully raised money across the country in order to aid organizations and governmental institutions or entities that build animal shelters for better care, increase pet adoption and encourage responsible pet guardianship, rehabilitate sick or unsocialized animals, fund spay/neuter programs, reduce/eliminate euthanasia of healthy animals, and train shelter dogs for purposes of therapy programs, assistance for wounded military personnel, and dogs-in-prisons programs.
“We are so excited about the next chapter in the life of MuttNation Foundation in aiding and assisting animals in need,” said Miranda “Aside from music, this is my biggest passion in life. Every penny of profit from the benefit goes into the fund that helps us accomplish our mission to end animal suffering and homelessness.”
“I’m thrilled to say that in the past five years we have been able to contribute nearly a million dollars to abused, abandoned, neglected, or unwanted animals,” said Bev Lambert, the Director of MuttNation. “We plan on doing even more outreach in 2012. One exciting partnership that we have entered into in this past year is with the Red Star Emergency Relief Service to assist in disaster relief for animals displaced or abandoned as well as the rebuilding of shelters harmed or destroyed. At this very moment, Red Star has been dispatched to aid the animals displaced by the rapidly spreading Colorado wildfires. One of the most exciting things about our partnership with Red Star is that we are working with them to bring home our military service dogs from the recent war efforts. These military animals are currently being retrained to provide service to the wounded warriors and therapy for their families.”
